On the top, Grandma's buttons; on the bottom, Big Pa's
When my grandmother died in 1988, I inherited her button tin. I've held
onto it for all these year with the intention of doing something with
the contents. Over 2+ decades I've raided it once or twice for art
projects, but never for anything cohesive. Then last week, I got the
following text from my mother:
So now I have TWO button tins to use for...SOMETHING. What can I do with these buttons? I've scoured Pinterest (remember, the suckhole of awesomeness?) but nearly everything I've found seems a little too folksy-sweet for my style. Any ideas? Any button artists out there?

Have you ever seen the Christmas tree Grandma made out of costume jewelry? Maybe something similar to that? She used a wooden cut out and then attached it to a frame with a fabric backing. I have seen initials and monograms done this way as well.
Another idea would be to let the girls pick some of their favorites and make jewelry using them.
Maybe a button wreath?
Button flowers!
